Teague sustained an injury late versus the Pistons.

The Celtics came away with a split of its two-game mini series against the Pistons, but couldn’t escape Detroit without injury.

In the fourth quarter of Boston’s 122-120 win Sunday, backup veteran point guard Jeff Teague went down after spraining his left ankle. Teague, who suffered the injury while trying to defend Derrick Rose and hobbled off the floor, exited the game with 6:31 remaining and did not return.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens did not provide an update on Teague’s health following the game and Teague’s status is unclear for Monday’s game against the Toronto Raptors.

Teague played 17 minutes in the win, shooting 1-for-4 from the field and contributing just two points and two assists. After notching 19 points in a season-opening win over the Milwaukee Bucks, Teague has reached double digits in scoring only once since and is shooting 33.3 percent from the floor.

The Celtics have another four-game week ahead and if Teague is to miss any time, it could mean a larger role for rookie Payton Pritchard while seldom-used Carsen Edwards or Tremont Waters might see some action as well.
